Rebecca

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier One of my favourite books from my younger days. It has taken me a while to re-read but I am so glad I did. It was so nice to read it again as I did not remember so many of the details. Almost, but not quite, as good as reading it for the first time.

Shiver

Shiver - Maggie Stiefvater Loved it! Can't wait to read book 2.

Past Midnight (Past Midnight, #1)

Past Midnight (Past Midnight, #1) - Mara Purnhagen I really enjoyed this one. Stories about ghosts fascinate me. I've not had any experiences myself, but I can't discount the fact that they may exist. It felt realistic to me. I really liked the characters and their interactions. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next in the series brings as I feel like this could easily have been a standalone.

The Indie Eclective: The Halloween Collection

The Indie Eclective: The Halloween Collection - M. Edward McNally, Lizzy Ford, P.J. Jones, Alan Nayes, Julia Crane, Talia Jager, Jack Wallen, Heather Marie Adkins, Shéa MacLeod Just the right mix of stories, and perfect for this time of year. Really enjoyed all the stories.

Anna Dressed in Blood

Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake Fantastic read. Kept me reading right to the end. Full review to come when I can organise my thoughts coherently!

The Aduramis Chronicles: Destiny of the Wulf

The Aduramis Chronicles: Destiny of the Wulf - Harrison Davies Fantastic read. Well thought out and paced, keeping me interested to the end. Can't wait to read the next instalment.

Blood Heavy (Blood Heavy, #1)

Blood Heavy (Blood Heavy, #1) - S.L.J. Shortt It is very hard to write a review for this one. I loved the story, the concept was brilliant, a teenager with "special" blood which has a major effect on vampires and means he never gets sick. However I was seriously put off by the poor editing. There were basic spelling and grammatical errors which affected my enjoyment. The formatting needs work too. Overall I give the story 5/5 and have to take off a large amount for the editing.

Lunar Light (Beautiful Damned, #1)

Lunar Light - Penelope Fletcher I was really surprised by this one, it wasn't what I was expecting at all.I loved the story, although I would have preferred a little less smut - (Can't believe I just wrote that!), I think it would have benefitted from a couple of the sexy scenes being removed, I would have been able to focus more on the story. The Wendingo's were interesting and the description of the transformations was graphic and realistic - well as realistic as I imagine shapeshifting to be, definitely not "sparkly". Another thing that let it down for me was the insta-love. I would have loved this to be extended into a full novel, taking a little more time to set up the love.I still gave this 4 stars and will definitely read more from this author.

My Dead Friend Sarah: A Novel

My Dead Friend Sarah: A Novel - Peter Rosch This was an okay read for me.The story revolves around an alcoholic, Max, and Sarah a woman he dreams about. Max is married and dreams about Sarah before meeting her. The story alternates chapters between Max and Sarah. It also shows the relationship between Max, his family members and members of alcoholics anonymous. For me, I found the writing difficult to follow. I'm not sure if it was deliberate, but the timing didn't flow very well. The story seemed to jump backwards and forwards in time too often without a clear idea of when events were taking place. Although I have no personal experience of alcoholics, I imagine this would be how Max views life, little pockets of time between binges - it was just quite difficult for me to follow.I would have liked to have seen more of Sarah's chapters, particularly towards the end. I actually found her character more interesting.Overall, I think if I had more experience of alcoholism I would have enjoyed this more, I just found it difficult to connect to the main character Max.

LE MANS a novel (RUTHLESS TO WIN)

LE MANS a novel (RUTHLESS TO WIN) - Dakota Franklin, André Jute I never thought I would be giving five stars to a book about racing!I first read this prior to publication as I helped out with the editing. I have just completed my first re-read and I loved it even more on reading it for pleasure. The story follows the main character, Mallory from her hospital bed following a pretty serious crash, to her first race at Le Mans. Along the way she solves the problem of who is selling the secrets of the team to the rivals. There is so much action in the story, I didn't feel like I stopped for breath. There was just enough technical racing information to keep me interested without feeling bored. I felt like I was racing alongside Mallory in the car at Le Mans. I loved her as a main character, she was strong and capable, even when her life is in danger, just the sort of person I would love to be!The book would appeal to males and females alike and if, like me you have no interest in racing itself, you will love it if you are looking for a good mystery. By the time you get to the revelation of the guilty party, you will be hooked.Le Mans is part of a series which follows different characters in the racing world. I will definitely be checking out the next books in the series.

A Case of Kiss and Tell (Harlequin Desire Series #2177)

A Case of Kiss and Tell (Harlequin Desire Series #2177) - Katherine Garbera I received this book in a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.Great story of a reporter, Nichole who in order to interview the owner of a matchmaking service agrees to be his mistress.I loved the characters and I will definitely read more from this author.

Dawnthief

Dawnthief - James Barclay I love this book. There is so much action, magic and keeps me reading until the end.

Vortex

Vortex - Lindsey J. Parsons A little slow to start, but soon picked up pace. Sam White is an ordinary girl at university when she meets Damian, a demon from another world. The first part of the story follows them as they piece together how to return Damian to his world. The story then follows what happens when they travel to his world.I loved the two main characters. Sam is independent and knows her own mind although she is a bit impulsive. Not that that is a bad thing! Damian is a demon with a conscience and tries to protect Sam. I hope to see their characters develop further in the next instalment and I would love to know more about Damian's background.I enjoyed the descriptions of Damian's world and it really sucked me in. The first part in Sam's world, I found to be slower which is why it took me a while to get into the story. I liked how the story was split into two distinct parts, there was no confusion as to which world they were in.Overall I really enjoyed this book and look forward to number 2.

The Picture of Dorian Gray

The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde Beautifully descriptive. The story of Dorian Gray who has his portrait painted and then wishes for eternal youth. I will certainly be reading more of Oscar Wilde's work.

To Wander the Labyrinth

To Wander the Labyrinth - Brian Peters I received this book in a First Reads giveaway. This book was full of action from the first page. I felt it was well paced and it kept me reading till the end. Because it is quite a short book, it didn't feel like there was much room for character development, I think it would make a fantastic longer book. I would love to have heard more about the Agency and the background of the main character Clay.I think if you love action you will love this book.

Northanger Abbey (Collins Classics)

Northanger Abbey - Jane Austen Loved this. Further review to come.
